PROGRAMME ULAM NAWA 2025 - CALL FOR APPLICATIONS The call for applications under the Stanisław Ulam Programme will be conducted from February 10th to May 12th, 2025, until 15:00, according to the official time in Poland. More informations on the NAWA website. The procedure for applying for the Ulam Scholarship is described in the programme regulations on the NAWA website. NAWA annuncement of the call for applications in the Programme no. 8/2025 of February 10, 2025. The document "The invitation from the Host institution in the fellowship programmes" (attachment to the Announcement), which is an attachment to the application submitted by the candidate by the NAWA electronic system, must be signed by the legal representative of the University of Warsaw – Vice-Rector Sambor Grucza. Therefore, the completed document, bearing the signature of the internship supervisor at UW and the dean/vice-dean, should be submitted to the International Relations Office (IRO). Please attach the draft application prepared by the candidate or, if the application is not ready, the candidate's academic CV and project description. These documents should be sent electronically to swietlana.dachno@adm.uw.edu.pl at least 5 working days before the planned submission of the application to NAWA. The document "Information on the commitments of the host institution" signed by the Rector will then be sent back to you by email. Considering the fact that an Applicant may submit only one application within the recruitment process, and given the short time remaining until the application deadline – the NAWA application must be submitted by February 18, 2025, by 3:00 PM local time – the order of submissions to the IRO will determine whether a project qualifies for submission to NAWA. The Program's idea is to create regional networks in individual voivodeships between various institutions of science and higher education, as well as other organizations working to support foreigners. The Program aims to establish and develop an institutional environment in Polish regions that supports career development and mobility for PhD students, researchers, and academics to enhance competitiveness and strengthen the position of Polish institutions of higher education and science in the international arena. Expected results - the creation of 16 regional NAWA-EURAXESS networks in 16 voivodeships of Poland. The project implementation period must last 36 months and fall within the timeframe from June 1, 2025, to September 30, 2028. The maximum requested financial funding is determined for each voivodeship, depending on the number of scientific institutions (s.i.) operating in the region. For the Mazowieckie voivodeship (163 s.i.), this amount is set at PLN 1,200,000. Detailed information about the competition and the program regulations is available on the NAWA website. The main goal of the Program is to support institutions of higher education and science in developing sustainable solutions for educational, scientific, and implementation cooperation within the framework of strategic international partnerships. The outcomes of the projects should serve as a foundation for the development of long-term cooperation among the entities forming the Partnership. Projects implemented within the Program must align with the long-term development policy of the applying institution. NAWA has announced a call for applications for the "Polskie Powroty NAWA 2024" Program. The Program enables outstanding Polish researchers to return to the country and take up employment at Polish universities, scientific institutes, or research institutes. Applications for the program will be accepted until December 18, 2024, by 3:00 PM (local Warsaw time), exclusively via the electronic system available at: https://programs.nawa.gov.pl. The Returning Researcher submits the application on their behalf and on behalf of the University of Warsaw (UW). The Program's premise is that during the Project's implementation, the Returning Researcher conducts the research activities planned in the application while also applying for national and international research grants. This ensures that the researcher and, if applicable, the Project Group can continue their scientific activities in Poland after the Project ends. The Program is open to all scientific disciplines. Representatives of the arts may participate in the Program, provided the activities planned in the Project are of a scientific nature. The original authorization will be sent to the inviting unit by internal mail. Detailed information is available on the NAWA website in the calls for proposals for each country. The application for granting consent to participate in the project, signed by the dean or vice-dean, should be submitted to the International Relations Office (IRO UW) no later than 7 business days before the NAWA application deadline. Additionally, to obtain the authorization from the Rector of UW for submitting an application via the NAWA electronic system, two documents must be sent to the IRO: an application for authorisation for the project manager and the NAWA authorisation template signed by the dean/head of the primary organizational unit. The system does not allow an application to be withdrawn — if an incomplete application is accidentally submitted, it cannot be withdrawn or amended. Such applications will not be evaluated in the competition. Before the submission, an application can be removed from the application list without any consequences. Students, PhD candidates, academic teachers, or researchers interested in participating in the program are required to submit their applications via the NAWA electronic system specified in the announcement. The online application must include, among other documents, the nomination form "Zgłoszenie z uczelni" signed by a representative of the International Relations Office (IRO). To obtain a signature, a clear scan of the nomination form "Zgłoszenie z uczelni", filled out by the applicant and initialed by an authorized person in the unit: must be sent to IRO at international@adm.uw.edu.pl. The CEEPUS Program is a multilateral cooperation initiative in the field of education among Central European countries, established through a multilateral international agreement. Program Objective: Supporting academic exchange for education and professional development of students and academic teachers from Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia. The program includes two paths of support for institutions seeking funding for projects in this call: The specific objectives of the program are to increase the attractiveness of Polish higher education institutions among students, PhD students, and academic staff from abroad by developing programs offered in foreign languages, and to improve the quality of education through the development and implementation of international study programs leading to the awarding of joint, double, or multiple diplomas. The aim of the Programme is to promote the Polish language related to elements of Polish history and culture by financing undertakings contributing to improving the quality of teaching Polish as a foreign language and its prestige, thus exerting a lasting impact on the image of Poland in the world. The purpose of the Program is to: develop the internationalization of higher education and research institutions through short-term scholarship exchanges; enhance the competencies of students, doctoral students, and academic staff from both Poland and abroad through short-term international scholarship exchanges; improve the quality of education by facilitating short-term exchanges of students, doctoral candidates, and academic staff from both Poland and abroad; increase the number of short-term mobilities conducted. The National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) and the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) announce a new support programme for Ukrainian researchers: IMPRESS-U. NAWA will fund International Supplements projects aimed at expanding existing research initiatives financed by the U.S. NSF with new components and partnerships involving researchers from Ukraine and Poland. A total of 7 million PLN will be allocated for the enhancement of existing projects through international collaboration under the International Supplements scheme, with additional funding provided by the Ministry of Education and Science. Application Process: International Supplements: The project coordinator from the U.S. submits the main application to NSF. The Polish unit, as part of the team, submits its application to NAWA. The application must be submitted to NAWA within 7 days of submitting the application to NSF, and no later than June 30, 2024. Details are available on the NAWA website and in the NAWA announcement. Applications are accepted continuously, until funding is exhausted. The total allocation for this program is 7 million PLN, but the Agency reserves the right to adjust the allocation of funds in the Call. The aim of the programme is to enhance the quality of education by supporting entities in the higher education and research system in creating and implementing intensive international forms of education. It also seeks to increase the attractiveness of Polish universities among students, PhD candidates, and academic staff from abroad by developing programs offered in foreign languages.
